Jay Ajayi was born in England, in London, on June 15, 1993. His parents were Nigerian and they moved Maryland in 2000. He moved to Texas and attended the Frisco Liberty High School. In the football team of his school, he had 2, 240 yards with 35 touchdowns. He also had the distinct record of having one varsity letter in track & field. He was the 41st best running back prospects of the class as well.
College Career
He joined Boise State University in 2011. He was arrested in the same year for stealing sweatpants pairs at a local store and punished for five days in jail. He was redshirted freshman in the college and played eleven games in 2012. He had 4 touchdowns, eighty-two rushes, and 548 yards. Besides, he has 118 yards, six carries, and a touchdown on just six carries while playing against New Mexico.
In 2013, he played as a sophomore. He played twelve out of the thirteen with 24 carries and three touchdowns. He also played well in some other games in the same year.
In the next year, in 2014, he played as the first Boise State player and had more than one hundred yards in ten games in one season. Moreover, he had 200+ yards and he ended the season with 3 touchdowns and 134-yard. With many other achievements, he was ranked fifth in the nation that was a pre-school record.
He finished the final season at Boise State while counting 41.3% of the team’s total touchdowns and yards. His name was considered for the first-team all-Mountain West Conference for the second time consecutively. He also earned the prestigious third-team All-American honors given by the Associated Press.
In 2014, on December 21, the player entered the 2015 NFL Draft. This decision made him to be the center stage of the game. He completed the collegiate career with fifty rushing touchdowns, 3,796 yards, and 678 rushes. That ranked him on the Boise State Career list. He was also tied for the second. In fact, he was the only player in the history of the Boise State who had 200+ yards rushing in three games only.
NFL Career
His professional career started in 2015. Before starting to play professionally, he already had a great fan following. He started by drafting in the 5th round of the NFL draft in 2015. On the May in the same year, the Dolphins signed Jay for four years. It was the $2.50 million rookie contract that offered a signing bonus of$ 220,813. His debut match was played against the Buffalo Bill. It was played on November 8, 2015. His name was named to the AFS roster to play the 2017 Pro Bowl. Many more achievements were waiting for him.
