Nick Foles had an outstanding performance on Sunday when his team faced the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship.
Eagles vs Falcons
This performance was definitely one of his best ever as he was in top-notch form. On the downside, though, the Philadelphia
Eagles quarterback left with an injury on his rib.
According to various sources, the quarterback was subjected to a series of X-rays after the game. Reports from ESPN indicate that the results of the X-rays give an optimistic picture of his condition. Foles has personally come out with a reassurance that the tests were merely checks and he is fine. It can only be hoped that all is well if the Eagles odds are to stay in their favor.
The quarterback had quite a show on Sunday despite the presumed injury. With three touchdowns and several significant throws under his belt, he was key to the resounding 38-7 thrashing over the rival team. It is understandable that the Eagles want everything to be in order as they head to the Super Bowl. The team has already had to deal with the loss of Carson Wentz, who was ruled out for the season as a result of an injury.
The Eagles are definitely taking caution with the team’s quarterbacks in order to avoid frustration. Carson Wentz was riding high before the big setback that ruled him out. Foles came in as his replacement and did a great job that saw the Eagles trample the Vikings. With a huge responsibility laid upon him, he definitely lived up to expectations and ensured that the team’s dream of advancing to the Super Bowl was not lost.
Not only did Foles succeed in securing the Super Bowl final, but he also did quite well for himself. An impressive performance during his first two starts saw him prevail to secure the No. 1 seed.
He definitely has had up and downs as evidenced by his performance in previous years. He, at one time, managed to garner two interceptions, over 2,800 passing yards and a count of 27 touchdown throws in 2013. What followed after that was, however, a stark contrast as he could not reproduce the same results over the next few seasons.
He had a chance of sustaining that performance having stints at the Kansas City Chiefs
and St. Louis Rams
in addition to the time spent at Eagles. His unimpressive performance definitely slowed him down for a while.
The most recent playoffs have however introduced us to a renewed and compelling version of the quarterback. With a strong focus and top-notch skill at the defense, Foles has definitely come to earn the trust of many. He has proven beyond doubt that he has the potential to take his team to greater heights.
Should his injury prove to be frustrating, however, the Eagles will be forced to settle on Nate Sudfeld to take charge. Nate has already had a debut sometime back in Week 17. In this particularly pitiful appearance, the Eagles went down 6-0 against the Cowboys. It is, therefore, hoped that all goes well and the team stays unimpaired.
